Kevin Verleysen
Biography
Kevin Verleysen obtained his Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering Technology (specialization in Sustainable Energy) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2015. Afterward, he received his Master of Electromechanical Engineering (specialization in Energy) from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2018.
After finishing his studies, he pursued a PhD under the supervision of Professor Francesco Contino (VUB/UCL) and Professor Alessandro Parente. In his doctoral research, he investigated the design optimization of a Power-to-Ammonia plant under uncertainties. In his study, Kevin investigated the effect of technical, economic, time-variant and invariant uncertainties on power-to-ammonia models on steady-state and dynamic models created in Aspen Plus Dynamics and Python.
After obtaining his PhD in 2022, he started working as a postdoctoral researcher on the FLEX-CHP project. The FLEX-CHP project, funded by Energietransitiefonds, aims at quantifying the potential contribution of biomass- and waste-fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units to the safety of supply and network balance in Belgium.
