Lorenzo Giuntini
Biography
In 2020, I completed a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pisa. Then, I worked on a PhD project for 3 years focusing on the combustion of alternative fuels (mostly hydrogen and ammonia) in systems operating under non-conventional regimes (i.e., flameless combustion, staged combustion) to enhance the energy transition of hard-to-abate industries. The title of my PhD thesis is: "Advanced numerical modeling of energy generation using sustainable alternative fuels in a decarbonized scenario". Since November 2023, I have been working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Université Libre de Bruxelles under the supervision of Prof. Axel Coussement and Prof. Alessandro Parente. Over the next 2 years, I will be focused on developing physics-based reduced order models to optimise in real-time the production, storage and use of green hydrogen in complex distributed/decentralized energy systems. Additionally, I will keep working on ammonia and hydrogen combustion, contributing to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions.
