Lorenzo Piu

Lorenzo Piu received his BSc dregree in Aerospace Engineering (2020) and MSc (2023) degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin. He did his master's thesis at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics working on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) of multiphase capillary heat exchangers for satellites.

His research interests range from turbulent combustion modeling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to deep-learning and Uncertainty Quantification. Currently, he is undertaking a Ph.D. under the supervion of Prof. Alessandro Parente in the Aero-Thermo-Mechanics Department of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of ULB. The project investigates the application of hybrid approaches to combine Neural Networks and physics-based models to enhance the turbulent combustion closure.
