The ORCHESTRA project aims at investigating the Operational Characterisation of Sugar Cane residues for Energy Production in the Cuban Industry. Biomass residues from the sugar cane industry can play a significant role in the production of the heat and the power that are required for energy intensive processes. Excess energy could also be delivered to the electrical network and local heat clients. Some residues are however seasonal and/or present challenging characteristics for their conversion into energy. In this project, we aim at developing experimental and modelling tools to define the most suited technological pathways for the valorization of specific industrial residues from the sugar cane industry.
