Alian Pelaez Cervera
Biography
Alian Pelaez Cervera is a PhD researcher at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), working within the HYDRAL research framework on hybrid Darrieus–Savonius vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs). He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas (UCLV), Cuba, where he also works as a lecturer and researcher, contributing to projects on energy transition and capacity building.
His research investigates the aerodynamic performance of hybrid lift–drag rotors under turbulent inflow conditions, combining high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics with field measurements. His broader interests include small-scale and distributed wind energy, turbulence modelling, and renewable energy deployment in resource-constrained contexts.
