Gonçalo Granjal Cruz

Gonçalo graduted as M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2019 from Instituto Superior T'ecnico (IST) in Lisbon. In 2020 he was awarded the Research Master Diploma from the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI).

Afterwards, he obtained his PhD degree under the supervision of Professor Xavier Ottavy from the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Fluides et d'Acoustique (LMFA) of the Ecole Centrale de Lyon (ECL) in France, in collaboration with Professor Fabrizio Fontaneto from the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI) in Belgium. In his doctoral experience, his research activities focused on the development of an experimental Bayesian data driven technique for turbomachinery applications.

Since early 2025, he started working as a postdoctoral research at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) under the supervision of Professor Mark Runacres with a focus on data driven modelling on unsteady aerodynamic systems.
